NetApp® ONTAP® 9 unifies data management across flash, disk, and cloud to simplify your storage environment. It bridges current enterprise workloads and new emerging applications. It builds the foundation for a Data Fabric, making it easy to move your data where it is needed across flash, disk, and cloud resources.
IMPORTANT NOTICE : ONTAP 9.1 upgrades to later releases, and new installs of ONTAP 9.2 or later failing due to included Truststore certificate expiration
In releases of ONTAP starting with 9.2, NetApp pursued an approach to simplify use of security certificates by bundling several trusted root certificate authority certificates with ONTAP. Security certificates have an expiration date and one of the certificates bundled expired on July 6, 2019. As a result of this expired certificate, as of July 7, 2019 two issues have been observed:
1. Upgrades from ONTAP 9.1 (or earlier) to a later release (such as 9.3) fail to complete successfully, leaving the cluster operational but with an effective cluster version of 9.1, meaning that no new features from the later release are available.
2. New installations of ONTAP 9.2 or higher fail to complete.
Further details of this issue can be found in Bug ID 1250500.
Customers needing to upgrade from 9.1 (or earlier) to a later release, and customers looking to install new systems on ONTAP 9.2 or later are advised to use a release of ONTAP that includes the fix for Bug ID 1250500, such as ONTAP 9.3P14, ONTAP 9.5P6, or ONTAP 9.6. If that is not an option, please contact NetApp Technical Support for further assistance.
